Workshops in italy
Our workshop based in Cortona, Italy (home of “Under the Tuscan Sun) offers Artists and Art-lovers a unique opportunity to work in breathtaking landscapes, study great art treasures and charming cultures while sampling the magnificent Italian cuisine prepared for us by some of Cortona’s top chefs!!!
Your leaders, Fred Wessel and Jeremiah Patterson are Professors at the Hartford Art School and have exhibited professionally in New York City and Boston. You can choose from courses in Egg Tempera, Studio Watercolor and drawing in two comfortable studios located in the Hotel Italia. They have run workshops in Italy since 1986 and cultivated a vast knowledge of and passion for Italian art, culture, cuisine and wines…which they are eager to share with you. Their workshops weave these elements together, and include day trips to charming hill-towns in Tuscany and Umbria, to ensure a complete cultural/art workshop experience. This year we are taking day trips in our private, air-conditioned bus, to the towns of Spoleto and Assisi. Spoleto hosts the world famous Arts Festival of the “Due Mondi” and is home to Fra Filippo Lippi’s spectacular last fresco. In Assisi we will visit Giotto’s wonderful frescoes on the life of St. Francis as well as the work of the Lorenzetti brothers, Simone Martini, Cimabue and Pietro Cavallini.
