People of the Mediterranean

AN INNOVATIVE INTERVIEW PROJECT THAT AIMS TO CONNECT PEOPLE AND CULTURES ACROSS THE MEDITERRANEAN AND BEYOND

Annett Räbel is a young German woman living for over 10 years in the Mediterranean (currently based in beautiful Barcelona). The idea for her interview project “The People of the Mediterranean” grew from her desire to foster knowledge and mutual understanding among the people living in the Mediterranean. The project focuses especially on young people, artists and entrepreneurs. All have their unique stories and a lot of insights and lessons to share. All share the same human values, the desire to live peacefully together – across cultures and religions – and to enrich each other’s lives.

Annett profoundly believes in the goodness and kind-heartedness of people, whatever their status, age, race or religion. She says, “We can learn a lot from each other, we just need to open ourselves and to listen to the stories of the people. Every life has its hardships and its joys, and we learn something from every moment and encounter we make along the way.” She wants to bring the people of the Mediterranean closer together and also allow people from other parts of the world to get to know this unique and diverse region. Annett is a communication and project design specialist, working on strategies and content for mainly social and educational projects in Europe and worldwide. She speaks German, French, English and Spanish.

For her, the Mediterranean is filled with diversity and surprises behind every corner and every encounter. The Orient and the Occident, its sounds, flavours, traditions, meet and mingle here.
