OUR HERITAGE - OUR CULTURE - OUR FUTURE

Our heritage is our history. Culture, traditions and languages are invaluable elements of our past. Today, it greatly influences our values, hopes, loyalties, worries and fears. We are creating today what will be passed on to the generations to come. As a great community that we are, we all share the responsibility to recognize, respect and sustain historical and cultural heritage.

The definition of culture involves a huge amount of customs, rituals, morals, codes and traditions from a particular time and place that are passed on from generation to generation. They give us a sense of comfort and belonging and help us to build the foundation and structure of our families and our society. Not only do they bring families together, they enable people to connect with friends and like-minded people to live out their traditions and thus pass them on to their children.

All this knowledge and experience will be passed down as an inheritance for future generations in the hope that it will be maintained and preserved over time.

CULTURAL TOURISM

Cultural tourism is one of the largest and fastest-growing global tourism markets. World Heritage sites are especially popular travel destinations. Through appropriate tourism management and empowering local communities we can preserve the cultural and natural diversity and historical areas in the Mediterranean and worldwide. Nevertheless, it is more important than ever to sustain the nature and the environment. Therefore, it is essential to increase awareness of sustainable travel.

Cultural tourism is very important for a variety of reasons. It has a very great positive economic and social effect. By traveling to places and engaging in local cultures we are helping to sustain and preserve the heritage of that region.

What fascinates people today is the lives of other people, their history and how they lived. Their architecture, views on art, religion and everything that has shaped their way of life are intriguing. It is important that we learn from our ancestral past and preserve our heritage to pass on to future generations.

Our natural and cultural heritage is non-renewable and irreplaceable, this is why we must preserve it, respect it and build awareness.
